Jeff Dizon

Was born in Manila 1954.(Neo-genre) BFA UP 1976 on the following scholarships; Celia Diaz Laurel, 1973; Jose Moreno, 1974; Gov Isidro Rodriguez, 1975; Jean Paul Kraft, Air France, & David Forcher of the Musee Decoratif de Louvere, Paris, 1976. Daughter Phapus also studied also studied art at UP, while wife Emma runs a gallery, Art Works. Won 1st prizes, Araw ng Maynila spot painting contest; Pepsi Natl Art Contest, 1961; and Unang sigaw ng Maynila spot competition 1962. Second Prize, Asian Arts Festival Malaysia, 1975. Was to Cambodia, 1969. Artist-in-residence, The Forum Gallery, 1981. In 1966, entered UST High on a Mayor Villegas grant. Painted movie billboards for Mario Cueto’s shop in Divisoria, but quilt shortly in favor of doing signboards, displays, and designs for doing signboards, displays, and designs for stores and shops inMarikina. Presented his first one-man exhibit of 160 drawings of Cambodia, at Metro Gallery, 1977. Did an installation for a group show at the Cabott in NY and Washington DC in 1979. In 1980, went to Mexico with Mariano del Rosario and Rene Mata, where joined modern Mexican artist for a group exhibit at Museo de Moderno. Also participated in a show of contemporary art in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In 1981, spent six months with the Forum Group, which he co-founded in Los Banos, and participated in the group’s four exhibits of experimental art. Was part of the 1992-95 traveling exhibits of Alegria Art & Decor.
